Teams are sent out at 3-minute intervals.\n\n\nThe course is approximately 7.5 miles with a variety of XC fences throughout (there is a non-jumping option around every fence).  Fences range in height from 2′ to 2’11”.\nNo food truck service – plan on packing a lunch/snacks for after your ride.\nFREE cider donuts served by Cocoa Chaud until we run out and available at the Full Cheek Cafe starting at 7:30am\n\nMiriam of Cocoa Chaud will be here selling her French inspired gourmet coffees\, cocoa\, & hot cider in the morning.\n\n\nOvernight stabling available at an additional cost (stalls must be stripped clean upon departure or $50 cleaning fee applies):\n\n$50 night – non-GMHA Members\n$35 night – GMHA Members\nHay & shavings available at $12 each (must be preordered by Monday at midnight & will be delivered to your stall prior to arrival).\n\n\n\nWater stop:  There will be a water stop\, or “hold\,” roughly 5.5 miles in with water available for your horse. You do not need to stop for any specified time\, but the Optimum Time for each division does include an extra 10-minutes for this hold. \n\nAWARDS:  Prize & ribbons awarded in each division and BEST TEAM COSTUME! Entries received or post marked after 9/5/2025 will be place on the wait list.\nThis year’s Fall Foliage Rides will feature four full days of pleasure riding! Celebrate GMHA’s 100th anniversary\, on a ride through the beautiful Vermont landscape of meandering trails\, wooded paths and open fields with incredible vistas from hilltops offered on these rides. \nSet your holiday ride in motion with Thursday’s (9/25) “Trailer Ride Out”  departing from an offsite location (entries and parking are limited – please plan accordingly)  followed with three days of pleasure riding through Sunday (9/28) from the GMHA grounds. \nEnjoy the best time of year for trail riding in Vermont with your equine partner and human friends on the beautiful marked trails GMHA has to offer. \nBegin the day with  light breakfast fare and ride briefing. The trail is then open for riders to head out on either a short loop or long loop option. A pre-ordered lunch served at a scenic location along the way\, or back at GMHA. \nThere are all inclusive (stabling and meals)single & multiple-day ride options as well as “No Frill” rides (no stabling or meals). \n\nPre-Registration is required. This ride fills quickly. GMHA does not accept “Day of entries” for this ride. No entries after the closing date\, no exceptions.\nA wait list will be put in place once the ride fills. Riders will be notified via email that they have been placed on the waitlist.\nOnly complete entries will be accepted and processed (Includes payment &  equine health requirements – proof of current noggins & rabies vaccination)\nOne rider per horse (no double riding).  Everyone must wear an ASTM certified helmet with chin strap secured.\nEntries close September 11\, 2025 by 5pm (unless ride is capped)\nGMHA Pleasure Ride’s REFUND POLICY – If entry is withdrawn prior to the CLOSING date of September 11th by 5pm\, entry fee & stabling will be refunded minus a $30.00 office processing fee. Scores from each phase are combined.\nDriven Dressage tests are judged similarly to a ridden dressage test\, but in a much larger 40-meter x 80-meter ring.\nThe drivers are required to perform a set of movements which include changes of pace\, circles\, turns\, extensions\, rein back and halt.  Each movement is judged and scores are tallied.\nThe object of cones is to drive through a course of narrowly spaced pairs of cones cleanly within time allowed. Each cone has a ball placed on top\, and any miscalculation will dislodge the ball\, thus incurring a penalty. This phase tests the fitness\, agility and obedience of the horse and the accuracy and skill of the driver.\n\n\n\n\nDay 2)  Arena Trials (AT) on Saturday:\n\nThe Arena Trials (AT) includes dressage\, cones\, and arena obstacles. Scores from all phases are combined.\nArena obstacles were created as a way to practice marathon obstacles without a full cross-country marathon.\nTwo obstacles are set up at either end of an arena\, with a start and finish line across the center of the arena.\nObstacles consist of large sturdy obstacles marked with gates\, which drivers must complete in the correct order.\nCompetitors are timed as they drive each obstacle twice.
